Currently, Ferrari has several different fascinating plans for upcoming innovations and advancements as well as some thrilling new model releases on the horizon, including the following:

1. Ferrari’s solar-powered factory

Earlier this year, Ferrari made a bold stride towards sustainability by launching a cutting-edge solar-powered factory at its legendary Maranello site, and the brand has plans to increasingly rely on this new facility in coming times. 

This new facility spans an impressive 42,500 square meters and is strategically located just north of the current Ferrari campus. Known as an “e-building,” this striking rectangular structure rises 25 meters high and features over 3,000 solar panels atop its roof, capable of generating a peak power of 1.3 megawatts. 

Ferrari has set an all-new standard for sustainability within the automotive industry by establishing an ambitious goal for its new factory to operate entirely on renewable energy, sourced both internally and externally, by the end of this year.

2. Ferrari’s first fully electric vehicle

Ferrari’s goal when it decided to construct its innovative new solar-powered facility was not only to manufacture its iconic combustion engine vehicles, but also hybrids and, more excitingly, its first-ever fully electric vehicle, alongside high-voltage batteries, electric motors, and axles.

Anticipation has been building for some time regarding this fully electric sports car, which is planned to be unveiled in 2025, but Ferrari has been extremely secretive so far in terms of its design.

4. Hydrogen power and an upside-down engine

These days, many automakers are directing their focus solely toward electric powertrains, but Ferrari is also exploring the exciting possibilities of hydrogen technology. 

One of their most creative concepts currently in development involves an “upside-down” engine configuration, which is designed to allow a turbocharger to capture energy from the crankshaft. If implemented, this unique design will not only boost efficiency, but also create valuable space for hydrogen tanks and related components.

Ferrari has also filed a separate patent for a similar setup that utilizes a supercharger instead of a turbocharger. This second patent’s broader application suggests it could also accommodate hydrogen-powered vehicles.
